My first introduction to makeup, and some of my favourite products.

05/09/2013

Ah makeup, I remember being in primary school and always wanting to wear makeup more often and naturally because i'm a dancer from a young age I was introduced to it quite early, I remember one time I turned up to my primary school after experimenting with my mother bright red lipstick..let's just say my teachers didn't appreciate that
. For my dance shows we were required to wear very bold makeup, seriously bold due to the fact that show lights drain complexions and so it needed to be bright enough, fellow performers know how much makeup has to be worn!. Cringe worthy memories of having to wear the brightest shade of blue eye shadow EVER paired with cat eye flicks, a very thick layer of pan-stick foundation and bright red lipstick...yikes.

Me age 11!
As you can see, bright blue eye shadow and the red lipstick!

It sounds ridiculous off stage but trust me, without it we would not be seen through all those stage lights!
now i'm a senior at my dance school the makeup is a lot more grown up, I think I felt a sense of freedom being able to do my own makeup and not have my mum attacking my face with the dreaded pan-stick foundation that barley rubbed in properly!

Age 17

As you can see the makeup is a lot more grown up, no more pan-stick!

Moving on from the embarrassment!

Normally I used to leave makeup wearing for the stage as I never really saw a point in wearing makeup at my secondary school until I was in year 8/9 when I started to wear foundation and mascara. Off stage I hardly ever wear a ton of makeup my daily makeup routine is foundation, powder, mascara and blusher (boring)

Even when I go out with friends Its barely noticeable I have any on, apart my my eyelashes.
My eyelashes have caused a lot of attention over the years, yup...because they are naturally long to many girls misery. My long eyelashes come from my father's side of the family and I guess i'm just really lucky!
Mascara is probably the most popular makeup product that I buy, if a new one is out and I have money it's going to be mine, haha.

When it comes to mascara I never normally buy the purse emptying brands (sadly, as I would love to own the top brands...*sigh*) My go to mascara brands are Rimmel London, Maybelline and Max factor. The one time I branched out of those brands was when I bought an ELLE magazine because I spotted it came with a sample of Benefit 'They're real!' mascara.

Now I know If I had the money I'd be buying and reviewing beauty products left right and center, but alas it is not meant to be. I am addicted to watching beauty videos on YouTube and my favourite ones are Zoella, TanyaBurr, MichellePhan and CutiePieMariza, I love love love them all!

My Top Mascaras!
  • 1- Benefit 'they're real!' Mascara
I cannot praise this product enough, it's brilliant. I am always skeptical of mascaras as they either clump my eyelashes up, the brush holds too much product or the brush isn't right my my eyelashes, but this one gets it right. It separates my eyelashes so much and actually makes it look like I have false eyelashes on, which is great for anyone going on a night out!
I recommend it to everyone, it's a must buy! my only drawback is that it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it!
    My Rating: 5/5
    RRP £19.50
  • 2- Maybellines 'The Rocket' Mascara
This is another great mascara, I love Maybelline Mascaras as they never disappoint me, the brush itself has an anti-clump feature meaning the product isn't loaded onto the brush which causes clumping, the brush has a really nice spaced application too, which fans out lashes easily! Another product I recommend!
    My Rating 5/5
    RRP £7.99
  • 3- Rimmel London 'Lash Accelerator'
This is a great product for big volume looks, the mascara is really easy to use and does not smudge or flake off during the day and stays on for a good few hours. My only draw back on this product is that the brush carries too much product so I do find myself wiping the brush to prevent clumping, but other than that it does what it says, it most certainly adds length!
    My rating 4/5
    RRP £7.99
  • 4- Max Factor's 2000 calorie Mascara
I picked this product up whilst I was on holiday and as usual Max Factor mascara's deliver, It's brilliant for adding volume and length to eyelashes and is smudge proof, bonus!
    My Rating 4/5

    RRP £6.99

As you can see the mascara's that I chose were all really close to being number 1 as I really have no bad negatives!, I love all of the mascara's in general and highly recommend people giving them a go!.

This is the result I got using Maybelline's The Rocket Mascara, I'd say that is a good result!, unfortunately I dont have any other  photos as I lost them all when my mobile phone broke!

Stay tuned for more product reviews in the future! :) x

Samy Fat Hair Shampoo Review

SAMY FAT HAIR SHAMPOO REVIEW

Hey! for my next blog I decided to do a review of a product I've been loving for a while,

Samy FAT HAIR Shampoo!
I'll explain...
Okay so essentially the shampoo is a thickening shampoo (hint in the name) and normally I never buy different shampoos from my regulars like Dove, Vo5, typical drug store shampoos.

Now my hair has never been my friend, my hair has always been on the weaker side, and recently it began falling out! GIRLS WORST NIGHTMARE!!
I  went to the doctors and had blood tests and all that jazz but nothing was ever resolved, now my hair has periods of falling out randomly to where it thins out a lot :(.

Now to talk about the shampoo I was first of all  introduced to it by a friend who raved about it, so I thought I would give it a shot and all i can say is that it is MAGIC! my hair felt so much thicker after using the shampoo and it has ultimately improved the condition of my hair. I'm not saying that the shampoo made my hair go crazy thick after one wash, my hair felt like after every wash it gradually got thicker and it's made a big difference!.

(My attempt at the sciencey part)
The shampoo itself is 100% vegan, sulphate free, and has a thickening complex and is packed with natural proteins and extracts!. (And it smells amazing!)

Bottom line the shampoo is amazing, works and I can't praise it enough, plus there is a whole range of different shampoos, conditioners and styling products available from the range. another thing I love about the shampoo is that it lasts ages, the bottle comes in 300ml and it lasted me for a good amount of time.

If you're interested in purchasing this product it's available in most drug stores for a reasonable price!
